2015-05-21 Board Meeting Minutes

Gold Hill Fire Protection District Board Minutes
May 21, 2015

Meeting was called to order at 7:07 pm. Present were members Bobby Vrba, Rich Lopez, Paul Garabedian, Dave Sturtz, Rick Geesaman and citizen Gretchen Diefenderfer.

Minutes were approved 5-0.

Call Reports: We responded to a rollover west of town, and a medical west of town as well. A live burn training at the Training Center got postponed due to the flood watch/warnings.

Old Business: We are still awaiting word on a new (to us) truck we are interested in. Regarding acquiring a porta-potty, we need to get the shed moved first. We will then come to an agreement with the Town Meeting, granting them a license to have a porta-potty on station property. Rich provided a draft of said license for our consideration.

New Business: Rich presented a letter of thanks to firefighters who responded to a death in Left Hand in March. Dave & Bobby were given their copies. Rich brought up the long-term plans which we have discussed. These include dry hydrants in Left Hand, new cisterns and new firefighters. Rich has some sites in mind and has spoken to property owners. It appears there will be some help and money available from the County and above. There is also some possibility of a cistern down Gold Run Road, on Max Yeager’s or Gretchen’s property. Rick G. pointed out that the Ranch pool would be available. Rick also pointed out that the plumbing for a dry hydrant doesn’t cost that much, around $600. Rich is going to make contact with the County and Chief Finn to get some guidance, and pick the two best sites. This will hopefully happen in June.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm

Respectfully Submitted,

Dave Sturtz
