2016-01-21 Board Meeting Minutes

Gold Hill Fire Protection District
Board of Directors Meeting: Minutes
January 21, 2016

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. All board members were present, and also Gretchen Diefenderfer. Dave Sturtz has resigned the board after serving approximately 20 years. Boyd Brown will take Dave’s position on the board for the remainder of his term, and accordingly was sworn in. The board is unanimous in thanking Dave for his fine work through the years, and his wit and wisdom will be missed.

Fire Chief’s Report: Chris Finn Started by summarizing the incident calls submitted to the Fire Department through the year, both in terms of the nature of the calls and the location within the district. There were a total of 32 incident calls, most of which were medical in nature. There was also a structural fire, and a vehicle fire.

There are no new recruits to the fire department. Donal Maloney and Chris are changing the format of some of the training sessions to make them shorter in duration due to the busy schedule of the firefighters.

Chris has located some possible fire trucks for purchase. All must carry at least 500 gallons water, have 4 wheel drive, and can fit in the current fire station.

Other Business: The Gold Hill Fire Protection District has received a relatively large donation from an anonymous source.

There was minor discussion of possible dry hydrants and cistern locations. The first priority is to see if we could put a 30,000 gallon cistern in the lower reaches of the Town Meadow. This issue will be discussed in the February Town Meeting on February 8th.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM. Next meeting scheduled for 7:00 PM on February 18th, 2016.
Respectfully submitted,

Rick Geesaman
