2017-01-19 Board Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Rich Lopez. Present were board members Rich Lopez, Paul Garabedian, Bobby Vrba, and Boyd Brown. Rick Geesaman was absent, and excused. Chief Finn was present. Also in attendance were firefighters Cris Gibson and Val Christ.

Chief Finn reported for the last two months as there was no meeting scheduled in December. Several medical calls occurred, and a snow storm rescue at the old garbage dump west of town.

Firefighters mostly trained on the “new” truck purchased from Left Hand Fire Department. The second truck from Left Hand has not been brought on board yet as Chief Finn wanted to finish training on the first new truck to avoid confusion for firefighters.

All local VFDs agree we should be getting some Federal PILT monies given to Boulder County. Meeting will be held on February 3, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Nederland Fire District. Report will be given to GHFPD at February meeting.

Process of clearing titles of frack tanks has not been finalized yet so purchase has not been completed. The completed tanks will be sand blasted and painted before delivery to Gold Hill. Motion was moved and passed unanimously to spend up to $10,000 for painting and storage until delivery.

Discussion took place regarding community versus private cisterns for new residences. Input from other FPD’s is desired so board members will report back at February meeting.

Colorado Mountain Ranch would like to have the surplus fire engine. Board agreed to donate the truck to the Ranch for their use and maintenance.
Chief Finn will finalize designs for dry hydrant piping and discuss at March meeting, then submit to an engineer for design.

Pension Plan: Attorneys did not attend January meeting so Rich will contact them for instructions on how to proceed.

Respectfully submitted,

Boyd Brown
