2017-07-20 Board Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM by Rich Lopez. Present were board members Paul Garabedian, Bobby Vrba, Boyd Brown and Rick Geesaman. Chief Finn was present. Also in attendance was Gretchen Diefenderfer. She brought excellent cookies.

Motion was made to adopt the minutes of April meeting; motion was unanimously passed. Gretchen immediately brought up the issue that the minutes of the Fire Board meetings have not been posted to the website for a long time. It was suggested that Rick Geesaman contact Dave Sturtz and learn how to update the reports on the website.

Chris Finn presented the Chief’s Report. There had been several calls about car wrecks. The Gold Hill Fire Department was not asked to respond since there were no injuries, nor any drivers at the scene. Three campfires since the fire ban had been reported. Chris reviewed the department protocol that they will not respond to the scene of an illegal campfire until law enforcement has been involved. Chris also noted that there was a new firefighter in the department; his name is John Tuler, a Boulder resident.

More Chief’s Report. Chris told the board that the fire department had been awarded a grant of $2500. The funds will be used for truck radios, packs sets, fire shelters, and a computer.

The Firefighters Pension Fund has been opened. Kudos to Bobby Vrba for his timely motivation.

Old Business. We had a quick review of the Meadow Cistern project. Don Ash has yet to get going on the project. We anticipate the survey in short order. Rich Lopez intends to push the county to fast-track the permitting process since the purpose is a noble purpose-to protect the community.
We discussed the Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast, another success. We agreed to get Leslie a gift certificate ($100) for her extraordinary efforts through the years. Motion passed unanimously.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM sharp. The next meeting will be at & PM August 17th.

Respectfully submitted,

Rick Geesaman
